These are updates that you can make at home that are fairly inexpensive, but will greatly improve both aesthetic and functionality in your home. Replace these 4 items and your home will feel and look cleaner...AND it will be easier to keep clean.
While there are decorative exterior clothshower curtains, there are also interior cloth shower curtains that are moisture wicking.
Showers are one of the grimiest places at home. It’s nearly impossible to scrub soap scum off of a flimsy plastic liner. Instead, opt for the cloth kind that you can throw in with your laundry whites. If you’re not sensitive to bleach, add this in.
If you don’t own a washable cloth shower curtain liner and use the plastic kind, you’re missing out. I own two: one to keep in use and the other to throw in the wash when it's laundry day.
Some are gas, others are electric. Some have drip pans and others have grates. Personally, I have a glass top and love it - I don’t have to fuss with the drip pans.
If you do have a stovetop with removable drip pans, it’s a no brainer to replace when they no longer come clean or have rusted...
You can replace all 4 for $20 or less. They sell drip pans at most box retailer stores and online. Our team at The Tidy People likes the black ones - they show less wear and tear over time:
When we moved into our headquarters for The Tidy People, we needed a large area rug. We happened to stumble upon Ruggable and fell in love!
They sell a 2-part rug system: (1) the base and (2) the rug cover that attaches to the base. When your rug cover gets dirty, just detach it from the base and throw it in the wash.
Are you as mind blown as I am right now?! That means you get to skip sending your rug off to a professional cleaner or renting a carpet cleaner to do the job. You. Just. Throw. It. In. The. Wash.
This will make your home cleaning life easier. Especially if you have a high traffic space, pets, kids, or just a partner who likes to messy eat all over the rug.
Rugs with the 2 part system ranges from $109 - $549, depending on style and size. What’s cool is that if you want to mix it up, you can JUST order the rug cover that is the same size and no base...for less. Swap out designs seasonally.
I get it. Perhaps there’s some tradition of using bar soap as a kid and it’s carried with you into adulthood.
It really comes down to preference on the use of bar soap vs. liquid soap — but when it comes to a cleaning perspective, it’s a thing that gets everywhere.
That residual bar soap goo that sits on the area surrounding can be pesky. And it returns quickly. Liquid soap when purchased in bulk, it just as cost effective and your soap area will stay cleaner for longer.
